More about
Scada-Ben When Scada-Ben was actually Scada-Ben
Among the challenges of the past were keeping a hundred or so office computer systems working for the Department, designing and testing databases for use by the various sections such as the laboratory and finance within the department, as well as designing and maintaining the Webpage and Intranet Webpage operated by the department. While most of his time was once spent keeping the remote telemetry equipment or SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Aquisition) systems working, receiving and recording engineering data about the county sewage collection and treatment processes, those days have thankfully passed, and those duties have been acquired by younger colleagues and outside contractors. In fact, ScadaBen's original challange was installing and adminstering the original SCADA System which ran on Vax Servers. That system has now been completely replaced. Developing Brevard County's first SCADA System was how ScadaBen got his name, directly from his old boss, Department Director Dick Martins. ScadaBen's hobbies have long included photography, since the 1960s. He says that in the last 20 years that interest has broadened to include both still photography like his father before him but now his greatest joy is in video making - some examples of video and photography work are found here: PhotoVideo Page .As You-All May Know, ScadaBen was Born a Charlestonian
As You-All may Know ScadaBen was Born a Charlestonian (and, if You-All know all that, you probably also know that a person may not become a Charlestonian any other way.) He was reared as a child by his parents and Granmother in The Holy City. Even living at times downtown in The Historic City, but always Slightly North of Broad. He was taught to eat rice and to worship his ancestors right there where The Cooper River and The Ashley River come together to form the Atlantic Ocean...... After 47 years here, Scadaben has become an adopted Floridian. Little wonder since ScadaBen's wife Sherry is a second generation native Floridian. Over the years they have taken some pictures and video of Low Country Scenes and Arts. Scadaben's Nephew, Tommy Gill has played Jazz in the Chaleston area for many years.
